African Robots was awarded a grant in 2015 to facilitate a collaboration with a UK partner, under the SA-UK Seasons programme, a partnership between the Department of Arts and Culture, South Africa, and the British Council.
The UK partner to Ralph Borland for the project is Daniel Hirschmann, of Hirsch&Mann and Technology Will Save Us. Ralph and Daniel are both past graduates of the Interactive Telecommunications Program at New York University.
The grant pays for travel between South Africa and the UK, and for work to be produced for exhibition in London and in Cape Town. The UK exhibition took place at MachinesRoom, a British Library Maker Library space in London, from 13 August till 3 September (flier below). The Cape Town exhibition will take place in January 2016.
