Coruja

This is a little owl – ‘Coruja’ in Portuguese – made with wire artists and interactive electronics students and hobbyists in an African Robots workshop in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 2018.

Many similar forms to African wire art are produced in Brazil, including cars and motorbikes that look much the same. The materials differ though – aluminium wire is the preferred medium there, as opposed to galvanised steel wire. Aluminium wire comes in many different colours, which lends itself to some colourful work!
