Our first African Robots workshop! In late April 2015, African Robots, with a grant from Pro Helvetia’s Ant Funding programme for cross-border collaboration, ran a series of workshops at HIFA2015, the International Festival of the Arts in Harare.
Wire artists hacked cheap electronic toys to make new forms. The toys were bought by project lead Ralph Borland on a research trip to Brazil, as part of Ralph’s post-doctoral work on the Global Arenas of Knowledge research project.
An exhibition of the wire artists’ work was held in the festival’s craft village following the workshops, and the works were later exhibited in London in August 2015 at MachinesRoom under the SA-UK Seasons programme.
